We are sad to announce that today is JJ’s last day with Ex Fabula – but the full Ex Fabula community thanks them so much for their work and for the care they put into this transition. We’re really looking forward to seeing them in the audience in the future – especially for events that they created like the Teen Slam at Pridefest.

I feel very full and grateful that I have been able to be a part of the Ex Fabula community for the past five years, from starting my FABulous journey as an UltraShorts volunteer in the beginning of the pandemic to becoming a full time Program Coordinator and StorySlam stage manager. I have made connections with others through Ex Fabula that I hold near and dear to my heart, and I am excited to continue to pour into those as I transition out of my role.

I have learned that there is so much power and value in personal stories – it influences how we connect with one another, learn from each other, and create special memories that will last a lifetime. I have also learned the importance of my own story, and strength in vulnerability and transparency in a society that demands division and social isolation. We need to hear each other’s experiences and be able to empathize with one another now more than ever before, and I hope that the art of storytelling can resonate not only as a form of arts & entertainment, but as a genuine tool of much needed change in the world.

I feel inspired and motivated now more than ever to take all that I have learned about the art of storytelling and apply it to my own personal story, wherever it takes me, as my full authentic self.

May you always be filled with loving kindness,

JJ <3
