It’s the most wonderful time of the year, well for us, anyway. Ex Fabula’s Season 9 starts on October 17, and the Milwaukee Film Festival starts on Thursday. September 28. We’re proud to be returning as Community Partners, to this wonderful Milwaukee tradition that brings people and communities together. 

The Milwaukee Film Festival shows short films in a specific category called Shorter is Better. These films, “present all the emotion and visual delight of a feature film in a fraction of the time.” That reminds us of a story… pretty much any story shared at our StorySlams, where tellers have no props or notes but bring audiences to tears, laughter and delight through the emotion presented in a story told in 5 minutes or less.

Our Community Partner film is Stories We Tell. “This wide-ranging collection of personal narratives is funny, touching, and a tribute to the ever-malleable artform that is storytelling. They include an epic love story, a Russian bride, a unique family legend, and the making of music history – a hodgepodge of fantastic yarns spun that are certain to make you appreciate the little things in life.” Watch the trailer of Stories We Tell.

Speaking of the artform that is storytelling…we hope to see you on October 17 for our first Regular season StorySlam of Season 9 “What We Could Go Wrong?” Doors open at 6:30, stories start at 7:30.
